Congratulations to siblings Andrew and Meghan Foley, long-time Sarasota residents and business personalities, who have purchased landmark Sarasota News & Books at the corner of Palm Avenue and Main Street. It's great to have the Foley name return to downtown commitment and spotlight.

Starting Friday, February 3, 2006 The
Church of the Redeemer in downtown Sarasota (222 South Palm Avenue) will open its doors from 6:00pm to 9:00pm to participate for the first time in the Palm Avenue First Friday Art Walks that take place on the first Friday of every month.  Visit the church grounds and enjoy a relaxing walk through rose and butterfly gardens, as well as the St. Francis Memorial Garden.  Other great things to see include the Compass Rose mosaic laid by a local Italian tile craftsman, the regal 65-foot Bell Tower with its five bronze German bells , and the inside of the church itself, with sixteen gorgeous stained glass windows and the magnificent Nichols & Simpson Pipe Organ (47 stops, 61 ranks).  Refreshments will be on hand.   For more information, please visit www.redeemersarasota.org or call 941-955-4263.
